The Turning Point Home — a craftsman house in San Diego with a front porch
What we offer

A home where healing happens.

A residential treatment program, a sober-living home, and a sisterhood that lasts a lifetime — woven together under one roof since 1970.

The Turning Point Home is a residential recovery program for women healing from alcohol addiction — and the drug use that often comes with it. We are small by design, so the work is intimate, every woman is known by name, and no one slips through. What follows is one continuous path: structured treatment, daily life in a real home, and a community that stays with you long after you leave.

01 · Residential treatment

Real treatment, in a real home.

Our residential program combines evidence-based clinical care with the proven principles of 12-step recovery. Every woman receives an individualized treatment plan, weekly one-on-one counseling with a certified SUD counselor, and daily group therapy — all of it trauma-informed.

Stays run 60 to 120 days on average, set by your needs using ASAM criteria — not by a clock.

  • Licensed by California DHCS · Medi-Cal accepted
  • Weekly individual counseling with a certified SUD counselor
  • Daily groups: relapse prevention, coping with trauma, healthy relationships, living in balance, 12-step recovery
  • No woman turned away for inability to pay

02 · Life in the home

The work is done in company.

This is a home, not an institution. Residents share rooms with one to three other women — your own bed, dresser, and nightstand — and share meals, household responsibilities, and the daily rhythm of a structured, alcohol- and drug-free house. Staff are on site around the clock, and many are in recovery themselves.

From the morning you arrive, a Big Sister — a current resident — helps you settle in. You are never asked to do this alone.

  • Shared rooms with one to three other residents
  • Staff on site 24/7 — many in recovery themselves
  • A Big Sister to welcome you from day one
  • 12-step meetings in the house and across the city

03 · Continuing care

Once a Butterfly, always a Butterfly.

Recovery doesn't end at discharge, and neither do we. Your counselor builds a comprehensive discharge plan with you — housing, work, continuing care — before you leave. Women who complete treatment may move into our 10th Step House, a self-governing sober-living home for graduates.

And every woman who lives here joins the Butterflies — our alumnae community of lifelong sisters, mentors, and champions of recovery, many of whom return to lead meetings and welcome the women who come next.

  • Comprehensive discharge planning with every resident
  • The 10th Step House — sober living for graduates
  • The Butterflies — a lifelong alumnae sisterhood
  • Alumnae mentoring for current residents

How admission works

From the first call to the day you arrive.

Four steady steps — the same for every path, whether you're calling for yourself, for someone you love, or to refer a client.

  1. 1

    Call us

619-233-0067. Speak with a member of our team. Confidential, judgment-free, no obligation.

  2. 2

    Screening & assessment

We confirm fit and medical necessity together, using ASAM criteria.

  3. 3

    Admission or referral

If we have a bed and it's the right fit, we admit. If not, we help you find a place that does.

  4. 4

    Day one

You're welcomed by staff and your Big Sister — a current resident who helps you settle in.

You are treated with love and respect and made to feel like you are 100% part of the decision-making process regarding your treatment. It is not an "institution."
